about

A loved one’s Death is the gateway to our own transformation. My latest offering Jupiter Vol. 1 is born from that process of loss, stillness, grieving and much more… it will always inform my direction now. When my father died shortly after my brother, it threw my life into a profound sense of instability. Fast paced changes, quick learning, big moves… all born from loss, and leading to uprooting all that my family knew. As the need to handle a seemingly endless amount of responsibilities mounted, I heard from my friends and family that I need to slow down and take time to reflect. Even stop for a moment. The desire to play music stopped. I had to make space for stillness, to grieve what wasn’t there any longer, but also the loss of what I had imagined my future to be. The lack of control and desire for control was disconcerting, dissonant, disturbing. And as I felt more disconnected from my manufactured-self and the will of my ego, the self-absorption, I found myself in the need to stop. Be still.

This music floats and hovers with little sense of propulsion or momentum. The feel reflects the slow Indian classical tempo, known as Vilambit - and reveals to the listener a long journey. For you, dedicated listener, this could use deliberate space for listening as uninterrupted meditation. That is hard to find, I know. This music is meant to support you to take the time to breathe, look up to the sky or hills, look deep and close your eyes. Don’t walk. Stand. Wait for your train to arrive, be ok to let it pass. Listen as deep meditation. Meditation was a skill my father held in very high regard and used regularly to process every part of the life that he lived. The time begets the process, so here’s the time and intention towards a process that you can take.
